List of Private Universities in Ghana and their Fees 2020
This is a list of Private Universities in Ghana which have been accredited and are degree-granting institutions. There are other educational institutions in Ghana – some are local campuses of foreign universities, some conduct classes for students who write their exams at the distance-education centers of the larger Ghanaian universities. Universities and colleges are accredited by the National Accreditation Board – Ghana under the Ministry of Education – Ghana.
Ghana, a nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, is known for diverse wildlife, old forts and secluded beaches, such as at Busua. Coastal towns Elmina and Cape Coast contain posubans (native shrines), colonial buildings and castles-turned-museums that serve as testimonials to the slave trade. According to the current world universities ranking the following universities make the top in the list of private universities in Ghana. These universities owned by different organizations and they are affiliated with the public universities i.e. when you graduate from these schools, your certificate will be given by those public universities.
List of Private Universities in Ghana
1. ASHESI UNIVERSITY
Ashesi University is a private, non-profit liberal arts college located in Ghana, West Africa. It offers a four-year bachelors programme grounded in a liberal core curriculum, featuring majors in Business .it was established in 2002.ASHESI is also known as the best University that trains a student for industrialization and with the one of the best campuses in Ghana Ashesi offers various courses. The University is well known as the Second best Information Technology University in Ghana after Ghana Technology University college.
Tuition Fees: For the 2016/2017 academic year, tuition fees are $3,758 per semester, which also covers textbooks.
2. WISCONSIN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GHANA
Wisconsin International University College is one of the earliest established private universities in Ghana. It is located at Agbogba Junction near Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
It was established in January 2000 and is accredited by the National Accreditation Board as a university college and affiliated to the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

3. CENTRAL UNIVERSITY
The Central University was founded by the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana.It started off as a pastoral training institute in 1988. It was then known as the Central Bible College by June 1991. It later became the Central Christian College in 1993 and eventually became the Central University College in 1997.
It was founded in 1998 as a pastoral school in Dansoman. Among the stated aims of the university is to provide an “integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent”. It is currently the biggest private university in Ghana.
Central University Accra Ghana Tuition Fee:
Central University College 2018/2019 Fees schedule are to be settled by the student before registration of the academic year. The fees are for the whole academic year but students can be allowed to register after paying a percentage of the fees. The remaining fees must be paid before the beginning of the second semester.
NB: First years are required to rely solely on the information on their application letter.
Fees are different for individual programmes, which ranges from;
- GHC 1,550-GHC 1,750 for School of Theology & Missions,
- GHC 2,210-GHC 2,410 for Central Business School,
- GHC 2,160-GHC 2,360 for Faculty of Arts & Sciences

4. METHODIST UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF GHANA
The Methodist University College Ghana is a private university in Ghana. It is located at Accra in the Greater Accra Region. It was established in October 2000 by the Methodist Church Ghana after being granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board in August 2000. Academic work started in November 2000 at the Wesley Grammar School campus. The university has five faculties. Each is made up of departments which report to their respective deans.

5. CHRISTIAN SERVICE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
This 44 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic record and grades. Founded in 1974, Christian Service University College is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the village of Santasi-Kumasi.
Christian Service University College (CSUC) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees in several areas of study.

6. CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF GHANA
Numerous distinguished Catholic Universities have been established all across the world by the Catholic Church, inclusive is the Catholic University College of Ghana. The university is among the very dignified private universities. Over the years the Catholic University of Ghana has moved to gain higher reputation nationally as well as international recognition. The university is located in Ghana specifically at Fiapre, Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.
It was granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board on 4 December 2002. The first batch of students started on 3 March 2003. The formal inauguration of the university was on 13 November 2003.

7. ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Accra Institute of Technology is an independent technology-focused research university based in Accra, Ghana. The university comprises six schools and three institutes. AIT is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (Ghana), of the Ministry of Education in Ghana to offer campus-based and open university programs in various fields.
The campus-based programs are offered at the undergraduate level in engineering, computer science, information technology, and business administration. Affiliated with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Open University Malaysia.

8. PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
The Presbyterian University College, Ghana is a partially private & public university located at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is one of the new universities in Ghana granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board. It was established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on 23 November 2003 and inaugurated on 27 March 2004 by the president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor.
It has been ranked the best private university in Ghana and third best after the University of Ghana and KNUST by world university ranking website webometrics

9. VALLEY VIEW UNIVERSITY
The Valley View University is a private university located in Oyibi, Accra in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It forms part of a worldwide system of over 100 tertiary institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The university began as the Adventist Missionary College and was located in Bekwai-Ashanti. It was transferred to Adentan near Accra in 1983 where it operated in rented facilities until it was relocated to its present site near Oyibi (19 miles down Accra-Dodowa Road). In 1989 and was renamed Valley View College.
The National Accreditation Board (Ghana) granted it national accreditation in 1995 thus allowing the university to award her own degrees. Thus, Valley View University became the first private institution in Ghana to be granted national accreditation.
