About of Big Brother Naija Show

Big Brother Naija is a reality TV show based on the Big Brother TV series which 12 to 21 contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize worth ₦85,000,000 and other material gifts including a house, an endorsement deal and a trip to Dubai at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers.

The first season of the show first aired on DStv Channel 37 from March 5 to June 4, 2006. The voting results were verified by the auditing company of Alexander-Forbes. A second time of the series premiered on January 22, 2017, a third season premiered on January 28, 2018, and a fourth season debuted on June 30, 2019, in Abuja, Nigeria

History of Big Brother Naija Show

SEASON 1

The first season of the show first aired on DStv Channel 37 from March 5 to June 4, 2006. In a twist to the game, two new contestants were introduced on Day 23, much to the excitement of the remaining housemates.

Ebuka, the most popular housemate for several weeks into the show and widely believed to emerge the winner was the seventh housemate to be evicted; many viewers blame Joe’s Fan Club (JFC) for his eviction. Joe himself was soon evicted from the show.

Big Brother added another twist to the game on day 79 by cancelling the day’s scheduled nominations and making the housemates believe they will instead be evicted based on their performances on assigned tasks while in reality no more evictions were held and viewers began voting for the winner who turned out to be 26-year-old Katung Aduwak.

SEASON 2

The second season of Big Brother Nigeria (entitled Big Brother Naija) premiered 11 years after the first season on January 22, 2017. Efe Ejeba emerged winner of the second season in 2017.

SEASON 3

The third season of Big Brother Nigeria (entitled Big Brother Naija) premiered on January 28th, 2018. Miracle Igbokwe from Imo State emerged winner of the third season in 2018.

SEASON 4

The fourth season of Big Brother Nigeria (entitled Big Brother Naija) premiered on June 30, 2019. Unlike previous years, the stage is set in Lagos, Nigeria. It was won by A record-smashing Mercy.

This fourth edition started with 21 housemates. These housemates included Omashola, Avala, Khafi, Ike, Frodd, Ella, Nelson, Isilomo, Kimophra, Esther, Sir DEE, Tuoyo, Thelma, Sheyi, Diane, Jeff, Mike, Mercy, Tacha, Gedoni, and Jackye. 6 other housemates were added in pairs after some weeks in the house.

SEASON 5

Season 5 of the Big Brother Naija is titled The Lockdown. The show consists of 20 contestants named Brighto, Dorathy, Nengi, Ozo, Tolanibaj, Lucy, Eric, Erica, Vee, Ka3na, Lilo, Tochi, Prince, Praise, KiddWaya, Laycon, Wathoni, Kaisha, Neo and Tricky Tee.

  • You are expected to record a two-minute video of yourself stating why you should be picked to be a Housemate in season 6 of Big Brother Naija. Only after recording your video, then you need to fill out the online registration form and upload your video below.
