They failed because there were some things they couldn’t figure out or control on time.
It’s not magical to pass WAEC. Even though the education system has been messed up to the point where students now think that expo is the only way to pass.
Everyone must not pass through examination. That’s why so many students who cheat on tests still fail.

Why you need to Pass WAEC
Here are a few of the many reasons why you should do your papers in WAEC.
1. To get into a college or university
I’m sure you want to go to college and get a degree. This sentence is not for you if you don’t want to be.
The university system, especially in Nigeria, says that a student who wants to go to college must have good grades in his or her five main subjects, including English and math.
If you’re a student of art, you should be able to pass the following papers:
- English Language
- Math
- Government
- Literature
Studies of Christianity/Studies of Islam
For students of science:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
For commercial students:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Commerce
- Economics
- Accounting
The other three depend on your class, except for English language and mathematics.
You can also get into college by taking these subjects. You can’t get into a science department or school at a university by taking art subjects. All of your subjects must match what you want to study in college.
So, you must pass your five main subjects in order to get in.
2. Chances to get a scholarship
Most scholarships in and out of west Africa require you to have SSCE results. This just means that you are automatically disqualified if you don’t have a WAEC score.
The main purpose of the WAEC result is to make sure that you are academically qualified to leave your country.
Basically, preparing your papers (Visa) requires academic qualification. If you don’t have any, you will almost certainly not be able to leave the country.
3. Job opportunities
Education documents are needed for jobs both inside and outside of the country.
Good jobs in the country require good education, unless you want to do menial work, in which case you can get a job without education (you can work as a cleaner in the office).
Tips on How to Pass the WAEC Examination in One Sitting
Read the tips below to figure out how to finish your papers in one sitting.
1. Start studying early
This is always the first tip, because once you read, the other tips will make sense. If you don’t study, you might not be able to use the other tips in this post.
Reading ahead of time can help you pass your test in a lot of ways. First, it gives you the chance to read your books again and again. You learn more about that subject than someone who goes through it just once.
It really does work differently for each person. Some people only read something once, while others have to read it twice or even three times to understand it. But the truth is that these two people have different level of understanding.
It’s not a good idea to start studying two weeks before a test. If you do that, you’ll have so many exam topics to cover which you may not be able to cover.
You should start 6 months before your test so that you have enough time to cover a lot of material.
2. Use past WAEC questions and answers as a guide.
So many students didn’t realize how helpful the answers to past questions are. You won’t know how important it is until you go through it yourself.
What can you learn from studying at past WAEC questions and answers?
You already know what WAEC is and what it’s all about.
You also know what the test is about and how to answer each question.
Sometimes, the same or a similar question from a past exam may show up on the current exam. This simply means that anyone who studied that question will be able to answer it with confidence.
You also learn how to behave during the test, since all of the rules will be written down.
This blog has free questions from the past. They are available online.
You can also get them at very low prices from book stores.
3. Read the WAEC course outline (Syllabus)
WAEC syllabus is a list of all the topics and books that WAEC candidates are supposed to study. In other words, it lets you know where to focus.
This just means that you don’t have to read the whole textbook to pass your test. Simply search and download the latest WAEC, JAMB or NECO syllabus on this blog.
If you’re still wondering if the syllabus are real or not, the answer is yes. Yes, it’s real, and it has topics and books that are recommended by the government.
The course outlines are free. You don’t have to pay anything to get it.
Just search for it on this blog and download it.
4. Show up on time to the test center
Make sure you’re at your exam center an hour before your test on days when you have to take one. It will help you get used to the place you are in.
Environment can change how you think and how your body reacts. Because of this, you need to get to know your surroundings.
5. Adhere to examination instructions
On the exam booklet, the directions for the test are written. Spend about 3–5 minutes carefully reading through it.
Make sure you do everything the way it says and not how you think it should be done.
Just do what’s in the booklet, because even a small mistake could keep you from getting into the test room, which is where failure starts.
6. Talk to God in prayer
Some people might fail WAEC because they didn’t give themselves over to a supernatural being (God).
Only through prayer can you tell God what you need in your WAEC results.
